Processional Gallery

The images presented in order of the processional’s movements across Regla’s landscape in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Each year brings something a little different: the incorporation of rituals, recomposed in this time and context, additions to the processional that make sense for this current iteration, and/or spontaneous acts reflecting the importance of Cuba’s street processional space as articulating the tension and negotiation between community wisdom (sabiduría) and institutional knowledge (conocimiento). With time and little by little, the community re-constitutes the Regla Orisha Tradition in its new iteration: the Cabildo de Regla.
