Ained is an award winning photographer and documentary film maker. Born and raised in Santiago de Cuba she currently lives in Havana, Cuba where she is the co-manager of Guampara Productions.
Her first encounter with photography happened in 2009 with an analogue Cannon camera, and she made a decision between pursuing photography or continuing on as a engineer, in which she has a university degree. Her first artistic area was within Cuba’s Hip Hop movement where she captured artists, events, concerts, and personalities such as Harry Belafonte, Lucius Walker, and the group Calle 13; those images all made up her first personal exhibition.
The daily dynamics of Cuba’s streets also capture her attention. Religion, portraits, identity, resilience are themes in her work, which she has captured and presented in dozens of collective exhibitions. She is currently developing as a filmmaker with different works in video clips and ethnomusicological documentaries, such as Bakoso: Afrobeats de Cuba, La Tumba Mambi and Mafifa La campanera, the latter is her first work as an audiovisual director and is currently in process.
